1:16 am - 5 Things That Never Happened To Gaheris Rhade

Title: 5 Things That Never Happened To Gaheris Rhade
Author: Juliette Torres juliette_torres@yahoo.com
Date: 28 Nov. 2003
Rating: PG-13 (violence)
Archive: AU, jmtorres.populli.net
Notes: You *cough* may have noticed that Rhade is pretty much my favorite character on Andromeda. So it made sense to me to devote not just one (grateful as I am for "The Unconquerable Man") but five alternate universes to him.

A big thank you to my betas: cadetdru, jcalanthe, kyrre, unovis, and mcjude.

5:45 pm - is it just me, or is that the U. of Oklahoma marching band?

Okay, so due to the fact that our local syndicator channel has no idea what the hell they're doing, this week we're seeing the season premiere, which begs the question: what is *with* the background music? Even when they're talking, there's French horns and drums and crap. It's not registering in my head as being part of the show, but rather like there's a tv on in another room.

Also, Rommie gets hotter every season. I want her hair.

10:25 am - Tyr's Bone Blades

I don't write on any Andromeda boards and so probably this has been discussed to pieces, but I still don't have a grasp on what the loss of Tyr's bone blades meant this season. (Other than of course the fact that KHC did not like wearing them.) There were a few references that you didn't need them to be a Nietzschean (yet the whole thing about genetic purity still remained -- even to his final conversation with Beka). There was something that physically still identified Tyr as a Niet unlike the man at the end of season two who had his removed in order to "pass" as human. I am writing a story now where Tyr's son is old enough to realize that his father is different and he needs n explanation. If anyone can help, even with an original theory, it would be greatly appreciated.

2:26 am - Everyone please take a moment to welcome...

munrock I believe most of you know him, but he hails from the now defunct Slipstream BBS.

I don't know if he's part of Exisle now or not, but Mun, welcome aboard. :)

5:20 pm - Harper loves Rommie ...

I just watcehd the Andromeda episode from two weeks ago and I realize now that it ... it would have spoiled me for the season finale, if that makes any sense. I'm glad I didn't know the things I was supposed to know. It was all a great surprise.

Also, Harper and Beka interact like siblings and Rommie and Dylan are finally friends, but Harper is in love with Rommie, and I'd like to think she loves him back.

This may mean I have to finish the Harper/Rommie I started a year ago.

EDIT: Or possibly P.S., For the Stargate fan, it was a terrific kick to see what was essentially Evil!Daniel beating the crap out of Teal'c-with-hair.

current mood: ... so. much.

1:46 pm - Just a couple of notices here.

I wanted to take a minute to say welcome and hello to our newest member, sibylle, who hails from Germany and has an interest in several different fandoms, including Andromeda. I hope everyone takes a minute to give her a warm welcome. :)

On a more personal note, I also just wanted to point out that because of computer problems and an a few other issues IRL, I've not been as diligent with this community as I used to be. So I'm sorry. I'll try and be more attentive to the posts as they come in.

2:04 pm - Ironic isn't it?

This summer the movie SEABISCUIT about the race horse is coming out. Does this mean we have a desirable blog name? Will people come here looking to talk about the movie. . . or the horse?

Maybe it will put a little life in the place.

2:45 am - Shadows Cast By Slash

Okay, so I just watched the season finale of Andromeda. If it hasn't aired yet where you live, even if you haven't watched in ages (Laura, I'm looking at you), you have to watch this one. It's insanely, inordinately slashy. Just ... forty minutes in, kissing wouldn't have surprised me. If you don't mind the spoilers, or if you've already watched, my fevered stream-of-consciousness thoughts are back hereCollapse )

I watched "The Point of The Spear" last night. Andromeda still cheers me up. I know it's what the listsibs hate more than anything, but I like the fluffy frivolous episodes. They're *fun*. Plus, that's where we get to see the most of Harper and Rommie and Tyr and Trance. And Beka. Here are my notes.

1 - It's been three years and this is the first sex scene (despite the fact that it gets interrupted before anyone gets anywhere). Also, the first time Harper gets kissed.
2 - I finally figured out why Beka's boyfriend looks so familiar. It's Michael's doctor boyfriend from QaF! The stripping one!
3 - I like it when Tyr and Rommie go places and beat people up. They're all cold and sexy when they do.
4 - Tyr is so in love with Beka. It's a shame she's not Nietzchean. But then she wouldn't be Beka.

I know that, out there, there's someone who wants to tear this episode apart for what Beka does. And I admit, I was a little confused by that too. But still! Fun!›

11:23 am - Failure to choose

I wanted to make a vid about Rhade in "Unconquerable Man," either to "American Tune" by Paul Simon or to "Withered and Died" by Elvis Costello. I couldn't decide which one I liked better.

So I made drafts of them both.

I'm only going to release one of the two vids, because they so clearly deal with the same subject matter, even the same scenes, that it would be ridiculously redundant to pass them both out. But I still can't decide which one I like better, quite.

I'd like to get a few people to look at both vids, beta them, tell me which one works better (and which song has the potential to work better with changes, if you think I botched it).

Please email me at juliette_torres@yahoo.com if you're interested.
